BORIS BUNJAC (1962) graduated from Percussion Department at the National Conservatory in Bordeaux, France in the class of prof. Jean Courtioux in 1985, and in 1993 he completed his master studies of Percussion at the Music Academy in Belgrade, in the class of prof. Thomas Aman. He has performed with worldly famous conductors and soloists: Zubin Mehta, Montserrat Caballe, Mstislav Rostropovich, Alexander Rahbari, Krzysztof Penderecki and many others. He has performed almost all the known works of classical and modern literature for various ensembles, from medieval and Renaissance music and baroque, classical and romantic periods up to all directions of the twentieth century, including Jazz, Rock and Roll, Pop and Ethno. Among the most important are some of the most difficult compositions such as: The Rite of Spring, Wedding and The story of a soldier by Igor Stravinsky or Holst,s The Planets , as well as modern repertoire of composers such as Bernstein, Copland, etc. He played in a number of major European halls in centers such as Vienna, Berlin, Rome, Madrid, London, Paris, Strasbourg, St. Petersburg. Main performances: with chamber orchestra of New European Strings Orchestra (2007); as a soloist with Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra he performed Concerto for percussion and orchestra by Anton Govednik, conducted by Horst Förster; with Gordan Nikolic (former concert master of Lodon Symphony Orchestra and a professor at the Royal College of Music) and chamber ensemble of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra he performed A story of a soldierof Igor Stravinsky (2008); with No Borders Orchestra, as a soloist with Stanko Madić (a concert maestro of Staatsphilharmonie Nurnberg) and Saša Mirković (artistic director of Ensemble Metamorphosis) he performed in Berlin a piece Sogno di Stabat Mater (2014), of a worldly renowned composer Lera Auerbach. He has been a multi-year solo timpanist and percussionist of Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. Besides his activity as a composer, arranger and music producer, he also records a fertile pedagogical activity. He has realized lasting audio recordings as well. He was awarded the commendations of the Ministry of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Association of Composers – for interpreting composition by Slavko Šuklar Concerto Doppio, as well as for winning Third prize for the interpretation of the Fourth Composers Tribune. He is a laureate of the Golden Badge of International Choral Festival – ICF Niš 2006 – for multi-year continuous cooperation and outstanding contribution to the Festival. He was Chairman of the commission at the International Competition of Percussion instruments Petar Konjović, held in Belgrade (2012, 2013). Since 2016, he has been working at Faculty of Arts in Niš as Associate professor in the narrow artistic field – Percussion instruments.
